Sustainability The story of DECATHLON How we play sustainability Product life cycle Reports & documents Press releases Whistleblowing platform ## How we play sustainability ## DECATHLON commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. At DECATHLON, we are aware that our activities have a major impact on our environment, our playgrounds. As sportsmen and women, we see this every day on our playgrounds. This is why DECATHLON is committed to contributing to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, in accordance with the Paris Agreement. In the short term, DECATHLON is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to the base year of 2021. DECATHLON is also committed to reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 42% within the same timeframe. This ambition has been validated by SBTi, an external organisation that provides companies with a clearly defined pathway for reducing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, thereby helping to prevent the effects of climate change and prepare companies for future growth. This ambition represents a significant shift from its previous strategy, which focused on reducing its economic intensity. What action plan is needed to reduce absolute CO2 eq emissions? ## Limit the impacts of climate change Our ambition: engage all activities to reduce drastically our carbon emissions in order to reach Net Zero by 2050 and to foster a climate-resilient world. ## Scale circular economies and eliminate waste Our purpose : move towards a future that creates value through second life products, products renting, products repairing and recycling solutions and services. ## Promote social impact wherever we play Our mission : through our business model, our daily actions and decisions, we operate in a way that benefits society and measure its impact on people and communities. ## An adventure started in 1976 DECATHLON is more than just a brand name. It's a real story, a human adventure that began in 1976. Michel Leclercq's idea was to sell equipment for several sports rather than just one, so that everyone could choose their sport. With a philosophy that emphasised the quality of first price products and the accessible price of the top-of-the-range product, Michel Leclercq had a very effective sense of business.
